Spiritual Dimension

Isn’t it interesting that most of us live a Christian life that totally ignores the spiritual dimension? We have reduced the Christian life to an academic process of studying about the distant, uninvolved, and slightly angry God… We have convinced ourselves the supernatural was only something God did back in the day when he was getting ideas together for His book.

Sadly, our primary focus in the Christian life is usually to study for the purpose of gleaning principles that we apply, mostly in the power of our flesh… if at all.

I think I’m past wanting to pursue knowledge… Instead, I want to pursue spiritual life…

I want “…to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19

I want to progress beyond the application of principles to a place of “….being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” Ephesians 2:22 NIV

This all seems different than the pursuit of principles and formulas for living.

I want to experience God’s presence, not just the preaching of principles…

I want to walk by faith and not by sight.

I’m not always sure what it is supposed to look like… But I think if we mold our expectations and what we believe around the notion of God’s involvement and for God’s presence, He moves us into a place of experiencing some of what I’m talking about.

I remind myself that we have this promise… If we seek Him, we will find Him. Him… not only His principles.

Is there more than the average Christian experiences? I believe so, and I’m looking for it.

“Jesus was once asked by the Jewish religious leaders, “When will God’s kingdom realm come?” Jesus responded, “God’s kingdom realm does not come simply by obeying principles or by waiting for signs. The kingdom is not discovered in one place or another, for God’s kingdom realm is already expanding within some of you.” Luke 17:20-21 TPT

May it be so.
